I've been in music lessons since I can remember, I learned piano, saxophone, viola and then one day I took my first guitar lesson when I was 11 which is when I truly fell in love with music. Being able to strum some chords and make up lyrics to go along with them was the best creative expression I could've asked for. And even though guitar was the instrument that really stuck for me, all my instruments had their place. I learned how to read music in piano lessons, was part of a jazz band when I played sax and to be honest just wasn't great at viola but still enjoyed being part of a strings ensemble. Music lessons were always something I looked forward to, and my teachers were all extremely supportive and influential to where I'm at now. Which is why I hold such a high honor in being a music teacher to new musicians, watching them play their first notes or write their first songs, it's such a privilage to be a part of that process.
